      NEWSPAPER CLIPPING: "Max Constable, who will be a senior at Cornell University this fall, has been awarded the New York State Florists' club scholarship for high scholastic excellence. He has been attending the summer session of the university and returns home Saturday." Max graduated from Cornell June 19 with James H. Constable, year unknown.
        NEWSPAPER CLIPPING: "Max Constable, Irving Salton and George Benedict left Sunday morning on a motor trip to Rochester and Niagara Falls. Alta Constable and Letha Tweedie, who have completed a course in the Rochester dental school, will return with them."
        OBITUARY: Walton Reporter, June 5, 1996: Max Kingsley Constable, 89,of Englewood, Florida, a native of Walton, died Sunday, May 19 aged 89 years. Mr. Constable was born in Walton June 30, 1906, and had been a feed mill manager for Agway in Homer. He had moved to Englewood 16 years ago from Cortland. He was a graduate of Cornell University where he was a member of Pi Alpha fraternity. He was a 1926 graduate of Walton High School. Mr. Constable was also a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and had played golf from the day of his retirement until recent months. He was fond of his rose garden which was admired by many in his Florida community. He was also an ardent trout fisherman in Catskill and Adirondack streams and tied his own flies. Surviving is a daughter, Maxine E. Constable of Columbia, Md., sisters, Alta McCaffrey of Walton and Anne Budine of Bradenton, Florida; a brother, James of Oneonta. A memorial mass was held Friday, May 24 from his late church. Arrangements were by Lemon Bay Funeral Home of Englewood.

     OBITUARY: From Walton Reporter: Mrs. Alta Constable McCaffrey of 4 Brook Street, Walton, died Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Countryside Care Center one day after entering the institution. Mrs. McCaffrey, 89, was born on the family farm on Constable Road, Third Brook, Walton, Nov. 16, 1907 to Archie and Lucy Finch Constable. She was married to Thomas J. McCaffrey who headed the Walton office of New York State Electric and Gas Corporation for many years. She had been a dental hygienist in the local offices of Dr. E.O. Bush, and was married to Mr. McCaffrey in 1932. He died in 1988. A gifted artist late in life, Mrs. McCaffrey took pleasure in stenciling and theorum painting and her family said, loved her garden. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Walton and CDA. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Marty (Marianne) Greenfield of Delhi and Miss Ellen McCaffrey of Boston; a sister, Mrs. Anne Budine of Bradenton, Fla., a brother, James Constable of Oneonta. She was preceded in death by a brother, Max Constable of Englewood, Fla. Services were Saturday from her late church with spring burial to be in Walton Cemetery. Rev. Eugene F. Willis officiates. Contributions in her name may be made to Catskill Area Hospice.

     50TH ANNIVERSARY: Married at St. Paul's Methodist Church in Harrisburg, PA. In 1983 they celebrated their 50th anniversary at an open house in the Elm Park United Methodist Church in Oneonta, NY. It was hosted by their children: Jane and Kenneth Devereaux of Athena, Oregon, and Roberta and William Davis of Greene, NY.
        OBITUARY: James H. “Jim” Constable of Greene formerly of Oneonta. James H. “Jim” Constable, 91, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2000, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. He was predeceased by his parents, Archie and Lucy Constable; brother, Max; sisters, Alta McCaffrey and Anne Budine; son-in-law, William J. Davis. He is survived by his wife of 67 years. Mary Constable, Greene; daughters, Jane Devereaux, Walla Walla, Wash., Roberta Davis, Greene; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. He graduated from Walton High School Class of 1927, after which he worked in the Walton Bank for two years. He then attended and graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Floriculture and Horticulture. [James graduated from Cornell University June 19 with Max K. Constable, year unknown.] He married Mary Scott on April 8, 1933. He was Superintendent of Grounds at Homer Folks Tuberculosis Hospital in Oneonta for 11 years. Jim and Mary purchased Reynolds Greenhouse in Oneonta in 1946 and operated it until 1972. At that time he became Superintendent of Oneonta Plains Cemetery for 18 years, until his retirement at the age of 81. He was an active 60-year member of the Elm Park United Methodist Church in Oneonta where he held many offices. He was a 50-year member of the Oneonta Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Queen May Court of the Amaranth, Binghamton. He was a Boy Scout Leader in Oneonta. He visited many Botanical Gardens in the U.S. and in Canada. Funeral and committal services will be held Monday at 3:30 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home, with Rev. David A. Rockwell, Pastor of Nimmonsburg United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call Sunday 7 to 9 p.m. at the Root Funeral Home, 23 N. Chenango St., Greene. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Greene Emergency Squad, 8 N. Canal St., Greene, N.Y. 13778 or to Elm Park United Methodist Church, Chestnut St., Oneonta 13820. The family wishes to thank his Dr. Allan Sklar and Dr. David Martinez, Mary Coyle, Nurse Practitioner and nursing staff at the Dialysis Unit at Binghamton General Hospital for all their kindness and care.
