     Frances Davis’s first marriage was to Sherrod Mayes (1804–1835) with whom she had four children: Louisa Mayes (1828–1887), Wiley Preston Mayes (1829–1918), Sally Ann Mayes (1832–) and John Preston Mayes (1834–). After Sherrod’s death in 1835, she married James Crowley (1814–1912) and had three more children: James Thomas Crowley, John K. Crowley (–1901) and Sarilda Crowley (1842–1880).

      OBITUARY - (Tri-Town News, Feb 1999): Alma A. Martin, 97, of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10, 1999, at the Skilled Nursing Facility, Sidney.
        She was born to the late Tilden and Sarah Osterhout Young on March 9, 1901, in Cobleskill.
        Alma married John M. Martin on May 5, 1927, in Sidney. He predeceased her on Oct. 20, 1967.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Sidney, since April 1928, a member of Sidney Senior Citizens and the Sidney Card Club.
        Alma is survived by two nephews, Robert Young of Sidney and Milton Young of Sidney; and one niece, Marion Borst of Cobleskill.
        She is predeceased by a sister, Mildred Borst, and a brother, Leslie Young.
        Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney at 2 p.m., with the Rev. David Masland, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating.
        Burial will be in Rural Cobleskill Cemetery, Cobleskill, in the spring.
        Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church, Sidney.
        Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers, Inc., Sidney.
