Walton Reporter, 19 April 1930: “Hurled Through a Door by Lightning…Leroy Budine of Loomis now Recovering from Shock.” A bolt of lightning, which followed a water pipe into the barn where he was milking late Friday afternoon knocked Leroy Budine of Loomis, near Walton, off his milking stool and out through an open doorway. Mr. Budine’s right arm and his speech have been affected by the lightning but he is recovering the use of the arm and of his voice. The fact that he was wearing rubber boots may have saved his life.
