Individual Note: OBITUARY - (Tri-Town News, Nov 1999 - Lulu A. Bartz, ARCADIA, FIa.): LuIu A. Bartz, 98, of Arcadia, Fla., and formerly of Unadilla and Walton, died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1999, at Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, Fla.
She was born Nov. 5, 1901, in Tacoma, the daughter of Arthur and Alice (Youngs) Rutenber.
She was married to the Rev. William A. Bartz, who predeceased her in 1990.
She was a retired elementary school teacher and assistant superintendent of the Wyoming Conference Children’s Home in Hillcrest.
Mrs. Bartz was a member of the Unadilla Methodist Church and the New York State Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley and Dorothy Bartz of Tyler, Texas, and Richard and Margaret Bartz of Walton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth and George Brown and Dorothy and Sidney Webb, all of Arcadia, Fla.; three sisters, Dorothy Downie of Otego, Evelyn Rosa of Franklin and Florence Campbell of Mount Vernon, Texas; 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral and committal services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at the United Presbyterian Church, Walton, with the Rev. Dr. Miriam Hathaway, interim pastor of the Vestal United Methodist Church.
Burial is in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Suite, Sarasota, FIa., or a charity of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

Individual Note: OBITUARY - UNADILLA: Rev. George E. Youngs, 84, of Unadilla RD 2, retired pastor of the Sidney United Methodist Church, died unexpectedly Easter Sunday, April 6, in Stantonsburg, N.C.
Rev. Youngs was born June 14, 1896, in Youngs, a son of Frank and Jennie (Rutenber) Youngs. He married Eva Mae Benedict Nov. 30, 1916, in Unadilla.
Rev. Youngs began his career in the clergy in 1925, serving in various area churches of the Wyoming Conference of the United Methodist Church.
He served in Plymouth from 1925 to 1926 and from 1927 to 1931, he served at Hartwick. From 1931 to 1935 he served at Chenango Bridge and served in Nichols from 1935 to 1937. He served at Susquehanna, Pa. from 1937 to 1939 and in Unadilla from 1939 to 1944. He then served at Athens, Pa., until 1952, and from 1952 to 1960 he served the Centenary Church of Binghamton. He served at the Sidney church from 1960 to 1964, when he retired.
From 1965 to 1972, he served as supply pastor in Warren Center, Pa.
Rev. Youngs was a member of Freedom Lodge 324 F&AM, Unadilla, and was an honorary member of the Sidney Rotary Club.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Dr. Franklin J. Youngs, Stantonsburg. N.C.; a daughter, Miss Maribeth A. Youngs, Unadilla Rd.; a brother, Durwood R. Youngs, Deposit; two sisters, Mrs. Norris (Mildred) Olmstead, Unadilla RD; and Mrs. Doris Sellers, Watertown; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral was Thursday, April 10, at the Sidney United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dwight E. Giles, pastor, and Rev. Burtt E. Sweet, district superintendent of the Oneonta District of the Wyoming Conference of the United Methodist Church. officiating.
Burial was planned for Evergreen Hills Cemetery, Unadilla.

Individual Note: OBITUARY - MESA, Arizona: Frank Leland Youngs, 79, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Pittsfield, Mass., died unexpectedly Thursday, April 5, at his home.
He was born October 1, 1899 in Youngs Station, Town of Sidney, a son of Frank and Jennie (Rutenber) Youngs.
He was a Colgate University graduate and also graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He married Florence Wilcox at East Masonville In 1922.
Mr. Youngs was a retired electrical engineer for General Electric In Pittsfield, Mass.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Robert Youngs, Madison, Wisc.; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Lois) Dennett, Netick, Mass.; and Mrs. Michael (Myrtle) Calkins, Lake Oswego, Ore.; two brothers, Rev. George E. Youngs, Unadilla; and Durwood Youngs, Deposit; two sisters, Mrs. Norris (Mildred) Olmsted, Unadilla; and Mrs. W. Oscar (Doris) Sellars, Watertown; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held Sunday, April 8, at the Prayer of Chapel Funeral Home, Mesa, Ariz. and was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla, with the Rev. Robert Dennett officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.
